Macroeconomic Indicators
Walmart (offici on the wholey Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. ) is an American multinational fel mildship specialized in the large distribution. The company was founded by Sam Walton and today supervised by his oldest son, S. Robson Walton. Founded under this name in 1962, it was quickly developed in Arkansas, then after that in 1991 it started overcome all United States before he internationalized itself. Today, Walmart is frequently to a great extent identical your vicinity store. We comprise a great choice of high-quality fairs, friendly service and, naturally, low prices from each ane and every day.One goal that Walmart is always pursuing is to bring the best experiment in customers over purchasing from their stores to the Internet. The Walmart. com store which is a subsidiary Wal-Mart Stores, Inc was founded in January 2000. The headquarters is in San Francisco Peninsula near Silicon Valley. Walmart is operating in many continents and countries but under different name. In Europe , the stores are portray in Great Britain under the name of ASDA. Walmart is operating from now on in the Asian market. Installed in China since 1996, the group employed about xxx thousands workers in this country in 2006.It is also present in Japan under the name of SEIYU. In 2005, an average of twenty million customers attended the Walmart stores each day (Walmart Corporate, 2011). Walmart marked a very consequential turn in their business life in 2005 by engaging into the introduction of a spick-and-spanfangled environmental durability, under the control of the President (Leadership CEO) Lee Scott. The sustainability engagement was developed after that Walmart decided to assist and help with $18 million cash funds in donations the U. S. hurricane relief efforts. As of 2005, Walmart employed more than 1. million associates in more than 6,200 facilities around the world including 3,800 stores in U. S. and 3,800 international units with $312. 4 billion in sales during this ye ar. The company received 138 million customers each week in the U. S. , Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Then in 2006, the number of hebdomadary customers rapid growth went from 138 to 176 million worldwide, with 6,779 places. Walmart has reached net sales record of $345 billion (Walmart Corporate, 2011).Walmart contributed in more than $415 million in cash and goods to 100,000 organizations worldwide through the Walmart Foundation, the appealing partners and the donations of the customers and associates to help better health care. In 2007, Walmart increased its successful $4 generic program, which in date of 2007 has saved customers more than $396 million on prescription drug costs. 2007 In February 2007 Walmart helped launch Better Health Care Together, has single partnership off organizations dedicated to has set off judicious furnace common princip les for achieving has new American health care system by 2012.Later in the year, Walmart expanded its successful $4 generic program, which aces off 2007 had saved customers more than $396 million one regulation drug costs (Walmart Corporate, 2011). The four (4) Economic Indicators Wal-Mart is indeed a very big and retailing sales empire with 3550 outlets in the United States and plans for much more. It also has stores in at least ten countries and plans to open 120 auxiliary stores on the international markets. In hardly ten years it gained close 15 percent of the retail grocery sales in all the United States.According to Walmart CEO Lee Scott, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. , seeks a share of 30% of the grocery sales and any other product line that it carries (United for a Fair Economy, 2011). Wal-Mart found out that there is an increase in the taxable retail sales everywhere in the urban center of one year after the opening of Walmart Supercenter which averagered over $79 million compared to the year before the opening for all the communities (21 supercenters). The taxable increases in retail sales made the average of 15 percent for all the cities (Wal-Mart Press Room, 2011).As the report Wal-Mart Press Room (2011) also mentionned In every city where Walmart has opened a supercenter in California, the city-wide taxable retail sales (including apparel stores, general merchandise stores, grocery stores, home furnishing and appliance stores, and other retail stores) lay down increased in the year following the opening of the supercenter as compared to the taxable retail sales of the year prior to the opening. Moreover, the city-wide taxable retail sales grow continued to increase in each subsequent year in all communities that have had a Walmart Supercenter for multiple years. It will be important to know that Wal-mart has a big impact in the U. S. consumer price index (CPI). Indeed, advantages and costs of Wal-Marts expansion through the United States is a very pass ion discussion. A lot of people that support Wal-Mart because they think that the lower price offered by the company is doing more than compensating U. S consumers the less expensive the price, the more customers you get. However, a study of Global Insight (GI) which is a consulting company, concluded that Wal-Marts expansion as made the consumers of the United States saved an average of $263 billion, which is indeed really flawed. Here, the GI announces that total prices lowered by Wal-Mart (which was measured by the overall consumer price index (CPI)) by a total of 3. 1% from 1985 to 2004. Then they mentionned that Wal-Mart prices of the products (goods) went down by 4. 2% above this period (Bernstein & Bivens 2006). The economy created only 57. 000 jobs in the month of November. Moreover, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stated that the unemployment rate did stayed primarily unchanged with 5. 9 percent, representing 8. 7 million formally unemployment workers looking ou t for stable jobs.Consequently, for the fortieth consecutive month, the United States has a woolly-headed of 17. 000 manufacturing workers jobbs in November for a total of 2. 6 million manufacturing jobs lost since the Ex President George W. Bush took over the office. But, this unemployment rate issue remains essentially unchanged in the Wal-Mart economy. Indeed, which ws explained by Mrs. Sweeney was the fact that the industrial center lost 17,000 manufacturing jobs in november, the fact is that the middle-class jobs are too often replaced by low-paying job which is an indication of the new Wal-Mart economy.Several jobs are macrocosm lost will not come back, and of the nations middle-class is cosmos notched away (AFL-CIO, 2003). Wal-Mart is a symbol of the US economy of the 21st century, which is held in radical contrast to the symbol of the old economy. Indeed, It is one of the giants of the service sector of the United States economy. To add, its $244. 6 billion in the sales in 2002 composed more than 2% of all the gross domestic product of the United States (GDP). Let us also mention that this has made Wal-Mart the worlds largest company (based on incomes). That is the 19th greater economy in the world. Consequently, it is our nations biggest employer, with 1. 3 million employees in the whole wide world, with plans of hiring maybe more than 800. 000 during the five years to come. Strategies that can be used by the firm based on the current economic indicators Wal-Mart dominates already many sales sectors, selling for example all the sports products, office supplies to clothing apparel and the groceries. It claims all my itself at least 20 percent of the countrys retail toy business. Now it has more groceries than any other United States supermarkets chain and it even has overtaken Kroger. Wal-Mart has already a good strategy market even though most of their works has been giving to foreign countries such china and such the fact is that maybe it is the re ason wherefore the price is so low and affordable to every low or middle-class citizens. Wal-Marts rapid Unique Growth Strategy has made itself being talked about to a point that many retails companies such as Kmart Corp. are trying to compete with Wal-Marts distribution system and telecommunications structure. Wal-Mart Stores are widely being spread like mushrooms from its Arkansas base by building new stores strategically placed close to the hubs and small towns, rather than leapfrogging through the nation like the other retailers stores (Harper, 2004). Wal-Mart, Stores Inc. s growth has completely accrued. Unlike a lot of other companies, Wal-Mart did not buy existing chains of retail sale in order to preserve the control of company culture. This what the experts explained because this strategy helped Wal-Mart stayed in the competition and still being one of the best. Wal-Marts market predominance gives him the extraordinary king to make pressure on suppliers in order to reduce their costs. This dominated sell Industry has made Target, Kmart Corp. and Home Depot, and other companies, to oblige manufacturers and suppliers to lower their prices (Harper, 2004).ReferencesAFL-CIO. Representation of Women in the Action Film Genre – Marion Ravenwood + Lara Croft
In this essay, I will be looking at the representation of women in the implement film genre and study the social messages that be constructed and conveyed by the media. The two media texts I will be comparing from are The marauders of the Lost Ark and Tomb Raider. The female person lead in Raiders of the Lost Ark is Marion Ravenwood who is played by Karen Allen and the male lead Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones. In Tomb Raider Angelina Jolie plays the female lead, Lara Croft. Marion Ravenwood is seen as a typical action heroine. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Marion unveils polar oddballistics about herself for example Marion tends to be quite feisty. She displays this in the beginning, when we see Indy walking into her bar. Acknowledging that they had a past and that Indy left her, or else of being quiet, she goes and slaps him. Another scene is when shes trying to leak after shes been kidnapped and this opens another idea that she does not give up. This suggests that women, how ever sterilely gentle and calm, nominate be zestful. However courageous, Marion also has her female traits. For example, when shes in the Well of Souls and there are dangerous creatures lurking at each angle, she screams and complains. This different portrayal of Marion suggests that she as well(p) as being tough, she can also be a female whos frightened and needs a man (Indiana Jones) in this case to nourish her. She is smart and uses whatever she can find, for example the frying pan, to protect herself and her man with. But at the same time, shes also always getting into trouble because of her savoury self, for example when she refuses to give the gold medallion to the Nazis and nearly getting killed. Lara Croft is seen more as an unconventional action heroine. In Tomb Raider, Lara plays a British blue blood and is seen as a woman who likes to live on the edge and can seem as a quite stonehearted woman as she is very think in what she does. The fact that she does martial arts propose of Lara Croft to be of a manly character by carrying and applying traits that are for the most part used by successful. When Laras butler tries to get her to put on a dress, she drops her towel to reveal herself, which portrays her a sexual character. I believe that the media wants to convey that women can be seen relate to men and although usually underestimated, they can do a lot more than men can. On the other hand, Lara also is very mad and we see that this is a great weakness of her, which is used against her. Lara is emotionally unstable by her fathers death and tries to take a big risk in read to fulfill her desire of meeting him once more. We see this when Mr.Powell emotionally blackmails her and offers her By this, we can see that Lara has a very emotional aspect in her, which is mostly seen as a womanly trait is the strongest and only thing which is stopping her to become a man. Lara can be seen as a positive character in the fact that shes self reliant and suc cessful in it, which Marion doesnt prove to be. Looking at Marion Ravenwood and Lara Croft, we can see that there defy been some major changes in the Representation of Women in the Action Film Genre. In both films, the female character is portrayed in a different way.For example, Raiders of The Lost Ark which is a film that was set in the 1936s showed Marion as a side heroine who was dependent on the Male Lead. On the other hand, Tomb Raider which is much more modern movie depicted Lara to be the main star and was independent and even though had a past, didnt necessarily need a man. As a common stereotype created for them, females were shown as smart but by using their brains Marion, for example when trying to get Belloq drunk so that she could escape while hed gone unconscious. In modern times, however women are also shown to be using their physicality and brainpower Lara Croft could be used as an example as she was known to figure out the correct area to place the triangle and d efeated the creatures that came her way. Female leads were much more believable back then as they mostly stuck to the stereotype built for them, however Female leads now are not as believable as they showcase more male stereotypical characteristics, one of them being physical strength. This As times have changed so have womens roles in society, and accordingly their representation in the media. The representation of women has improved as they have moved forward into a more equal society. Hollywood is a reflection of real life, and the point that the representation has improved because of society views, reservation it easier for the audience to relate in general, has proved this. Also, if an Action film has a male lead, chances are that the majority would be male audience as women are mostly not interested. But if an Action film has a female lead, theres more possibility of both gender audiences, as it would contain a bit of emotional drama that women would enjoy and the female lead w ould have to be attractive, appealing to the male gaze. This shows that Hollywood imitates what has been going on in the natural world. In conclusion, I believe that women in action films are positive role models if were looking only at Marion and Lara. Marion and Lara are both very different put because of the timings

Of mice and men dramatically conveys to us the vital importance of dreams in helping us to deal Essay
Of mice and men dramatic whollyy conveys to us the vital importance of ambitiousnesss in helping us to deal with the much difficult realities of our lives. In this novella by John Steinbeck, some characters had ambitiousnesss to deject them let turn out of difficult realities, their dreams helped them to combat the loneliness and desperation of there existence.George Milton and Lenny Small, two poor homeless migrant workers who belonged nowhere and to know one were doomed to a life of wandering and toil, in which they will neve be able to reap the fruits of there labour. The one liaison that that kept them strong through this repetitive and trivial life was a dream. Someday were gonna get the jack together and were gonna make a little house and a couple of estate an a cow and some pigs (George- pg 14). It was a dream that was shared by every American worker, to have a place of their own, the opportunity to work for themselves and know one to give them orders. For Lenny the d ream was very oftentimes real, it helped him to cope with the boredom that he go about and he always went to sleep happy thinking or so t lay offing the rabbits. For George on the other hand, the dream was at first like a fairytale he t experienced Lenny to bring a smile upon his face and the promise of tending the rabbits helped him to stay out of trouble exactly all the while he was very optimistic about the dream and felt that there was no way it would become a reality. Georges first views towards the dream were soon changed when glass found out about what they were planning, he turns financial help and suddenly a new view is seen of the dream. This unexpected offer by Candy means that the dream is no longer a fantasy and at last all the pain and suffering might have payed off for George, Lenny and Candy but the threat to the fulfilment of this dream is ever present in Lennys behaviour and in the end its Lennys uncontrollable actions which finally destroy dream. The dream is constantly changing, at first it was just a story told by George to play up Lenny, then in the middle it seemed like it would come true and finally in the end it was unvarnished that everyones dreams were shatter with Lenny as the only exception, because he dies happy with the picture of the dream in his head.Candy wishes to share in the dream with George and Lenny because he is becoming old and useless like his dog, he has nowhere to go to and now one to care about him and unlike his dog theyre non going to take him out and shoot him, instead there going to put him in an old folks home where he will feel lonely and have no freedom.By association Lenny and George he can live out his days happy and free, forever safe knowing he wont be canned. Once Candy realises that the dream is more or less a reality he stands up for what he believes in with dignity and courage, something he didnt do sooner he realised the dream was within reach. Candy realises that he doesnt have to be the useless old cripple anymore because he can live the rest of his life happy, without being told what to do. Candys dream ended in a pessimistic way because all he valued got destroyed leaving him with nothing and hence left in the same way he was forward the dream- old, useless and hanging onto his job by a thread.Crooks dream was to be respected and not judged by his colour, he too wanted to live on the ranch with Candy, George and Lenny. Crooks is an example of the bitterness, anger and hopelessness that a black American struggling to be recognised as a human being is faced with. At first Crooks was most cynical about the dream of owning a ranch but the dream was powerful enough to convince him that it was the real thing for a few moments only to be shattered by Curleys wife who made it clear that there is no way a black, game outcast such as himself would ever make such a dream a reality. That parameter that Curlys wife made, made Crooks realise that he was nothing more than an outcast and what she give tongue to was in a way true, with that all the hopes and dreams of Crooks were crushed.Like Crooks, Curleys wife is stricken with isolation and sadness. She was out of place on the ranch and because of that she was a really lonesome person with lonesome feelings and hence was often desperate for someone to talk to. Throughout the novel Curleys wife stirred up umpteen emotions among the workers of the ranch, such as the way she looked and acted lead other characters in the novel to see her as a tart. Curlys wife indulged in a dream which had already passed her by, leaving her with a life of empty hope.Like many young women, she aspired to stardom in films after being wrongly told that she was a natural. At first she seemed cold hearted and set herself to make trouble but then it became apparent that she was just lonely adn wanted someone to talk to and as Curley was not interested in listening about her hopes or dreams, the only person she found willin g to listen to was Lenny.

Evaluating the Results of School Administration and Supervision
Educ. 207 Evaluating the Results of School Administration and Supervision Organizational valuation or assessment measures compare and analyze the coherence between directs and specific objectives, and between specific objectives and general objectives of institutional projects, programs or plans. Evaluation is an important looking of improving the administration in any organization. It plays a very important consumption in helping the managers to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in their operations. It can figure as an instrument to create confidence and generate co-occurrence of the people for research programs, and put frontwards their activities in a transparent and effective way to its shareholders. Depending upon the time of evaluation, it can either be Ex-ante evaluation or Ex-post evaluation. When the evaluation has been conducted before or during the lend oneselfation of a task, it is known as Ex-ante evaluation. Ex-post evaluation is carried aside after a ta sk is completed. Evaluation in an organization can be carried issue in an integrated form or with respect to certain departments. When it is carried out for the entire organization, the result is apprised with goals and objectives and the quality of the result is calibrated with predetermined standards. When it is carried out separately for each department, it is necessary to determine the importance of the task performed and role played in the result by the respective department. Coordination between different departments is always an important aspect of any evaluation process. Communication within the workplace should gener completelyy be followed with proper protocols, but it should be from top to bottom and vice versa.Horizontal communication should also be promoted in an effective manner. The three merry elements in an evaluation process are the organization, the assessment team and the employees who use the assessment results. To effectively enchant out the evaluation proces s, the assessment team must be aware of power hierarchies, decision-making policies, organizational assimilation and other internal and external intricacies. Organizations should allow for formal coaching to an assessment team before carrying out any evaluation.Employee assessment plays a vital role in building a good sonorousness and cordial relations between the management and the employees. Employee evaluation should be carried out in a tender atmosphere with minimum formalities. They should be providen an opportunity to speak out openly. Interviews can be conducted in an informal and unstructured manner to gauge the employee satisfaction level. People like recognition for the work they do and mostly wish to talk about it. They like to share their problems, conflicts, perceptions and achievements. Educ. 07 Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers An exemplification teacher is the one we respect from our heart. He/she acts as a guide to the savants, magical spell non di splace them too frequently. Such a perfect motivates them and boosts their morale. He/she tries to encourage the students and refrains from criticizing them. The perfect teacher prefers to give arrogant motivation to his/her students. His/her comments are always constructive in nature. He/she serves as our friend, guide, educator, confidante, and a blend of all the good qualities one can posses.Such a teacher shapes the entire life of the students. If everyone in this world gets an angel teacher, he/she wont have to look back in his/her life ever. Considering the fact that students go a great part of their life at school, one may come to conclusion that schools kick in significantly into overall quality of students lives. No wonder that personality of a teacher is of crucial importance moreover, virtually teachers turn into extremely important people for the whole life due to the impact they make while teaching us.It is good if this impact is positive and brings motivation for students, however, it sometimes happens that teachers manage to spoil not further mood of a student but intrude into internal world, leaving unpleasant vestige there. That is wherefore the statement that, What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches, expressed by Karl Menninger is really truthful. Question of teachers ethics has been on the agenda since teachers appeared and it is still important to talk about that.Teachers are the people, who should serve for students not except as examples of high education but of decent behavior as well. That is why each colza of teachers ethics may cause some really serious consequences and turn into crucial mistakes. For example, ignoring some student may lead to personal complexes because a young personality will feel depressed and underestimated. Of course, much depends on childs family, surrounding, but as it was stated from the very beginning school is the place where children spend a great part of their time and thats why they are growing as personalities at school. It is vital that they grew in a healthy atmosphere, surrounded by professional teachers that would be able to not only give knowledge but give lessons of ethics too. Educ. 207 BASIC EDUCATION SECTOR REFORM AGENDA ( BESRA ) The section of Education is pursuing a package of policy reforms called the Basic Education Sector Reform agenda (BESRA) to build upon the efforts of the School First Initiative (SFI) and to create a basic education sector that is fitted of achieving the Education for All (EFA) objectives by 2015.STRIVE focuses on organizations development, particularly at the regional level. The support systems which are organism developed will address the need for effective continuous use of promising project initiatives integrated in DepED as well as ensure quality improvement processes within the education system itself. STRIVE focuses on developing systems for BESRA regional implementation anchored to the national policy and frameworks. It is one of the strategic avenues to support the successful implementation of BESRA.The implementation of the BESRA was seen as a welcome move by many, both in the private and public sector. Several landmark initiatives by the DepEd have been based on the BESRA, such as the institutionalization of multilingual education, the Third Elementary Education dispatch (TEEP), and the Secondary Education Development and Improvement Project (SEDIP). However, years after its first implementation, many of the proposed reforms have not been fully implemented. As NicetoPoblador said in the newspaper column Beyond reform, beyond transformation, published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer last 25 January 2009, the indigenous hindrance to any true reform in the education sector was the resistance of entrenched elements in the bureaucracy and by elements outside the system whose interests firmly lie on the status quo. Poblador also paraphrases Cynthia Bautista, a sociologist at the Uni versity of the Philippines, saying that most of the reform proposals that have been put forward (including the BESRA, which was founded on the research of external parties) have been externally generated. Because the proposal was externally generated, bureaucrats have the final say in the implementation of these reforms. Educ. 207 PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS OF DEPED Academics is not the be-all and end-all of education. At DepED, we recognize that pure classroom instruction cannot fully satisfy the growing need to provide pupils and students with opportunities for practical learning and proper channelling of potentials and interests.Because we believe in the importance of exposing and preparing young people to face the realities of life, we implement various programs and projects all of which, hopefully, will help pupils and students become more well-rounded individuals and citizens of our country. BRIC Countries
While the United States and Japan still remains as an economic powerhouse, countries like Brazil, Russia, India, and mainland China, jointly known as the BRIC countries, are seemingly headed for that same route. According to a thesis published by Goldman Sachs Investment Bank, the preservation of these quadruplet countries are slowly improving and is likely to surpass the existing genuine countries in the world by 2050.Aside from these four, there are other rising markets namely BRIMC (including Mexico), BRICS (with South Africa), BRICA (the four countries and Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain), and BICET( with Eastern Europe as well as Turkey)(Prado, 2008). The Global Outlook Jim ONeill, who was the economist who proposed the thesis, forecasted that come 2050, the BRIC countries would live with constituted more than 39 percent of world population and generated a collective GDP of $15.43 trillion. At present, they only account for 15 percent of th e worlds make national product (GNP) compared to that of the six industrialized economies of the US, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, and Britain. However, it is predicted that despite their growing population, the BRIC countries would all overtake these countries and become the leading countries as far as increasing growth and spending ability is concerned(Prado, 2008). BRIC Countries 4Although not regarded as a semipolitical alliance (like the EU) or formal trading blocs much(prenominal) as the ASEAN, the BRIC countries view as made great strides in strengthening their cooperation, in order to influence the stand of the United States on major trade treaties, such as the proposed nuclear partnership with India(Prado, 2008). Despite of their cultural and political variations, the BRIC countries establish shifted their political system in order to be globally competitive in a capitalist world(Prado, 2008). A Second Goldman Sachs continue In 2004, Goldman Sachs published a follow -up to its first BRIC research. In the second report, it was found out that lot who have a yearly income of more than the $3,000 threshold will be twice as much in a span of three years and 800 million in ten years. This shows that there is huge gain in the amount of middle class in these states. By 2025, according to the second report, the number of people with an income of more than $15,000 would surpass the 200 million mark(Prado, 2008). However, the follow-up report likewise indicated that despite the shift in the economic growth, the average income in developed countries will remain higher compared to those in the BRIC countries(Prado, 2008).Responding To The Development A report released by PriceWaterhouse Coopers believes that investors must now set their sights on the BRIC countries as it presents a bright approaching for growth potentials. Economic growth has shifted from the United States and Europe to emerging countries BRIC Countries 5 like China and India. This was b ase from an observation by John Hawskworth, chief of the macroeconomics division of PricewaterhouseCoopers(Gorringe, 2008). According to forecasts, China would emerge as the biggest thrift by 2025 replacing the United States and sustain their growth to 130% come 2050.Similarly, the economy of India would surpass that of the US by 90% in 2050. Brazil will move to number four dislodging Japan. Russia, along with Mexico and Indonesia, whitethorn become larger than the economy of Germany and the United Kingdom(Gorringe, 2008). It is worth mentioning that other emerging economies have been included in the list of Pricewaterhouse Coopers as potential growth areas. Among them are Vietnam, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Philippines, and Turkey. Vietnam, in particular, has shown tremendous economic growth at 10% per annum.Come 2050, its economy would be 70% larger than the United Kingdom(Gorringe, 2008). Among the BRIC countries, China and India have shown the most evidentiary improvement in terms of their economy. Although their population is over 1 billion, Chinese and Indian economy have grown rapidly. For China, the growth rate is at 10 percent per annum since 1980. India, for its part, registered a 9% growth in its economy in 2006. The combined output of the two countries went up from 6. 7% to 21. 3% from 1980 to 2005.According to predictions, world economy will be focused on China in the year 2015 and India by 2030(Gorringe, 2008). BRIC Countries 6 all over the years, the United States have become the major trading partner of both developed and developing countries. However, this is no longer the case, as many countries have now realized the potential that the BRIC countries have as a region of growth. For instance, the United States have long dominated the scrap market industry, but now China has become a major competitor in the manufacture and distribution of recyclable materials.India, likewise, is a unfermented alternative as far as the scrap market is conce rned(Sandoval, 2005). On the other hand, Russia and Brazil have become a major stem of raw materials. The significance of the BRIC partnership is that China and India can source their raw materials from Russia and Brazil(Prado, 2008). Although the economy of Brazil is still dependent on the United States, its local currency is doing well. In fact, during the past years, it has outperformed even the Euro(Mason, 2008). Conclusion Gone are the days when the United States dominated world economy. With emerging economies such as the BRIC, the time will come when the playing field as far as global economy is concerned will become level, with each country having their own share of economic growth. Pretty soon, the United States will eventually have to learn how to trade with other countries all over again. The emergence of the BRIC countries is a clear sign that potential growth is no longer concentrated on developed countries and that the balance of economy is veering away towards develop ing nations outside of North America and Europe.BRIC Countries 7 References Bustelo, P. Farmers
grangers discontent during the period 1870 1900 had an impact on their attitudes and actions towards national politics. During this time period manufacturing had a broad growth spurt and agricultural began to decline. This made it harder for farmers to make a living. Document G shows how much manufacturing increase between the years 1849 1899. America could no longer aspire to be a nation of diminished freehold farms. Manufacturers and deal living in big cities depended on farmers to pretty much keep them alive. Many people didnt realize how much of an affect farmers had on their everyday lives. If you took farms away from the United States during this period of time, everything would eat completely crashed. Farmers had difficulties making a living because the rate of being a farmer were so high. Nothing has done more to injure the western region than these freight rank. (Document F) The high rates of being a farmer made it difficult to pay payments on the lands and the rate of interest was quickly rising. Some farmers couldnt even sell their produce at a reasonable profit. These farmers worked long, hard hours and the government wasnt on their side about paying them with a decent income yet they wanted so much from the farmers. Along with farm prices failing, railroad prices were increasing. Railroads were important to farmers because they took farmers out to their lands, carried their produce of hard work to markets, and brought them the construct goods that they needed. Many farm settlements were established around railroads because of this reason. Railroad managers were forced to charge very high rates and because of it, that means farmers would have to pay more bullion to use railroads when they already used enough money keeping their crops alive. Document B talks about how it was also hard for colored farmers to make a living especi totallyy after the Civil War. They had to get the local merchant or someone else to tag on the food for the fami ly to eat while the first crop was being made. (Document B)They couldnt pay interest and by the end of the first year, they found themselves in debt. The attempt in the second year didnt go so well either because they had old debts plus new interest to pay. Many of the colored farmers had just about given up hope (Document B) Not only was money an issue for farmers but also in the late 1880s and early 1890s crop suffered severely from droughts. It was cool and dry which was unfavorable for all crops. This made it difficult for farmers to keep their crops alive. By the late 1880s, farmers were so fed up with everything that they created the Farmers Alliance, seeking to overrule the chains from the banks and railroads that bound them. The Farmers Alliance merged with other liberal Democrats to form the Populist Party. They strived for railroad regulation, assess reform, and unlimited coinage of silver. In the election of 1892 the Populist Party nominated James B.Weaver for professo rship and as Document D shows, most of the farmers in the west, mainly Nevada, voted for the Populist Party because that party was root in the frustration of the farmers and they needed change. The farmers were furious with the way things were going for them and they had hoped that the Populist Party would help. Even though they didnt win the election, they made a remarkable showing with 1,029,846 popular votes and 22 electoral votes. These electoral votes only came from the midwestern and western states. With the creation of a new party, out of discontent, the farmers managed to change national politics.
